Associate Highway Engineer

About the role

Pennoni is seeking an Associate Highway Engineer for their Transportation Division at their Lehigh Valley, PA office.

Responsibilities

• Experience/knowledge of PennDOT publications and design standards.
• Transportation engineering including:
• PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit preparation and review.
• Roadway design.
• Drainage design.
• ADA ramp design.
• Maintenance and protection of traffic plans.
• Pavement marking and signing layouts.
• Pavement section design and review.

Requirements

• Required education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum years of work experience: 2-5.
• Licenses Required: Professional Engineer in PA preferred.
• Computer skills required: Basic knowledge of PennDOT’s electronic permitting system (EPS); familiarity with current design standards (PennDOT, AASHTO); efficient use of other applicable engineering software (StormCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs; Hydraflow Storm Sewers; VTPSUHM, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Looks for and seizes opportunities to improve work products.

• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments.
• Strong work ethic.
• Enjoys working on a variety of assignments.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of PennDOT’s electronic permitting system (EPS).
• Familiarity with current design standards (PennDOT, AASHTO).
• Efficient use of other applicable engineering software (StormCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs; Hydraflow Storm Sewers; VTPSUHM, etc.).
