About the role
The University of Pennsylvania seeks a visionary media executive to lead content strategy and production for WXPN, the public media service of the University of Pennsylvania. The Associate General Manager for Content Strategies will develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy across all platforms, ensuring alignment with the station's mission and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the station's content strategy across all platforms.
- Establish programming goals that support audience growth and revenue targets.
- Identify emerging content trends and implement innovative programming initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow executive leadership to align content with organizational mission and objectives.
- Foster creativity, collaboration, and professional development within the content team and across departments.
- Ensure all content complies with FCC regulations, copyright laws, and company policies and ensure all licensing agreements with artists and labels are aligned with WXPN’s distribution needs.
- Oversee budgets for Programming and Digital departments.
- Provide executive leadership for the creative direction, all aspects of production management, budgeting, partnerships, talent relations, and audience engagement for World Cafe.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive digital content strategy that extends the radio station's brand across all digital platforms.
- Develop multimedia storytelling initiatives to increase audience engagement.
- Provide leadership for cross-functional teams responsible for digital production, social media, web content, video production, and podcasting to help build and grow the station’s digital presence, audience engagement, and digital revenue across all platforms, locally and nationally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and proven success managing programming, talent, and multi-platform content strategies required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of demonstrated experience in radio, broadcast media, or digital content leadership required, with at least 5 years in a senior management or executive role.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing multi-channel content distribution strategy in media, marketing, or related field preferred.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, strategic planning, and editorial judgment skills required.
- Strong leadership, project management, budgeting experience, and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of AAA radio music format, audience research analysis, and excellent ability to interpret audience analytics to make data-driven decisions preferred.
