About the role

The Division of Physical Therapy within the School of Medicine at West Virginia University seeks an on-campus/in-person, full-time, non-tenure track Associate/Full Professor to contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the mission of WVU and the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT).
  • Provide high-quality instruction in the entry-level doctoral curriculum.
  • Engage in scholarship related to cardiopulmonary physical therapy.
  • Participate in curriculum planning and development.
  • Engage in Division, University, and professional service activities, including participation in Division and committee meetings.
  • Represent cardiopulmonary physical therapy content in curriculum planning and development.
  • Contribute to a department culture of collegiality, collaboration, and trust.
  • Promote innovation and resourcefulness.
  • Build partnerships within the department, community, and related programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state of West Virginia.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in higher education (classroom instruction or clinical teaching).
  • Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy OR other recognized specialty certification.
  • Enrollment in a post professional doctoral degree program with established timeline for completion.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching related to the content areas of Contemporary Clinical Expertise and Knowledge of Required: Acute Care, Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy, and/or the care of complex patients.
  • Additional areas of teaching may include physical therapy fundamentals, general medical conditions and pathophysiology, evidence-based physical therapy practice, and professional practice.

Desired Qualifications

  • Scholarship record consistent with appointment at rank of associate or full professor.
  • Post professional doctoral degree awarded by a USDE recognized national or regional accrediting body.

Schedule

The appointment date is negotiable, with the goal to have the successful candidate identified no later than May 2026.

Pay

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
