About the role

This is a developmental role for an Associate Fragrance Development Manager, Specialty at our Creative Center in NYC. You will manage Evaluation projects, validate and evaluate fragrances to meet customer needs, and act as the “consumer” and brand expert in selecting fragrances for submission. The role involves identifying white space within brand offerings and fragrance nuances that align with brand DNA, working on smaller projects while developing competencies for the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Make fragrance selections through collaboration between perfumery and evaluation, including face-to-face smelling sessions, open dialogue, and shared team decision-making.
  • Manage assigned project portfolio by identifying objectives for each project: fragrance characteristics, timetable, priority, cost, competitive price, and market potential (individual customer or broad market).
  • Gain proficiency in selecting and developing commercially viable fragrances for assigned accounts.
  • Train on the job and develop skills in fragrance evaluation.
  • Support the evaluation department for floating accounts and provide secondary support to the Fragrance Service Coordinator in the absence of the Evaluation Assistant.
  • Gain knowledge of assigned accounts, including product lines, current fragrances, and submission requirements.
  • Enhance market knowledge and consumer understanding in your area of specialization, staying current with new market products, consumer tastes, and olfactive trends.
  • Coordinate library review sessions and direct perfumery with new ideas for expanding the library.
  • Interact with all internal fragrance departments, customers, industry contacts, vendors, and MANE Affiliates.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. required.
  • 3+ years of functional/technical experience.

Skills

  • Project and system management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Olfactive ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to leverage digital communication and collaboration tools.

Pay

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and applicable legal considerations. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, awarded based on individual and company performance.
