Associate Faculty - Math

About the role

This position is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in Math and pre-college Math. It reports to the Dean of Academic Transfer and Allied Health and works closely with the Math and Science Division Chair as well as other faculty and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full-time faculty member.
• Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule, in the required instructional modality.
• Aid students with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
• Maintain frequent communication with students.
• Refer students to appropriate college resources as needed.
• Submit assessment data in consultation with a full-time faculty member in the department.
• Schedule and hold a minimum of one office hour per week; online or face-to-face.
• Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Math or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Previous teaching experience, or relevant and equitable work experience in the desired field.
• Experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

• Experience teaching at a community college within the previous three years.
• Experience working with non-traditional students.
• Experience using innovative teaching techniques.
