About the Role
The T&D Associate Estimator I is responsible for various tasks in developing cost estimates for transmission, distribution and substation work. The T&D Associate Estimator I will be a part of an extensive training program to help develop these skills.
Essential Functions
- Prepare or assist in preparing complete cost estimates for assigned transmission, distribution and substation projects
- Plan and execute work while meeting customer-defined submission deadlines
- Schedule and attend field job walks with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements
- Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits (travel may require overnight stays)
- Perform or assist in performing take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
- Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, including assembly and distribution of project documentation into RFQ/RFP packages
- Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
- Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimates
- Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders
- Participate in job close-out meetings at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating process
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location. Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards.
About You
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and/or possess basic knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services (preferred)
Education
- High school diploma or GED is required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft applications with emphasis on Excel
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Good communication skills, including verbal and written
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
- Strong problem-solving skills
