About the role

Eversource is looking for an Associate Engineer, Reliability Compliance to support Transmission in Westwood, MA, Berlin, CT, or Hooksett, NH. The individual will participate in the planning, preparation, and review of NPCC regulatory filings as well as post-filing response. They will interface with the Independent System Operator – New England (ISO-NE) and coordinate required filings. Activities include coordination with transmission operations to ensure proper reporting of NERC and ISO-NE requirements, as well as tracking quarterly key performance indicator goals. The role involves working with operations, planning, engineering, and other Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide timely responses for Eversource’s regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Verify compliance with engineering, test, and maintenance standards by reviewing records submitted by SMEs, including NERC Reliability Standards, ISO-NE Operating Procedures, and NPCC Directories.
  • Assign and follow up on SME tasks through Archer (compliance application).
  • Prepare and discuss NERC Event Analysis reports with SMEs.
  • Conduct and coordinate Self Assessments using technical knowledge and SME support to verify compliance.
  • Conduct and coordinate Reportability Determinations by evaluating potential reportable events based on NERC/NPCC compliance requirements.
  • Provide analytical support to the Manager of Reliability Compliance.
  • Coordinate information gathering for NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE related filings.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all applicable rules and regulations in Archer and Compliance Universe.
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate records are maintained for all filings.
  • Oversee and provide input to regulatory filings for Transmission.
  • Support the group in preparing presentations for management, regulators, and other audiences.
  • Manage the group’s calendar of filings, external meetings, and NERC reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain networks of key contacts across organizations to facilitate efficiencies.
  • Prepare and circulate summaries of internal interactions with transmission management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology required.
  • 0-3 years of related experience; engineering design experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the utility industry, especially transmission.
  • Understanding of electrical power engineering principles and theories.
  • Experience with database management and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with regulatory reporting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary; occasional to significant travel by car may be required. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $82,800.00–$92,000.00. This position is eligible for a potential incentive.
