Associate / Engineer Embedded Software

Relocation assistance may be available. This position requires a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and involves up to 10% travel. Work on-site daily in Beavercreek, OH (other Northrop Grumman Warner Robins, GA locations may be considered).

About the Role

Northrop Grumman Defense Sector is seeking two Associate Embedded Software Engineers or Embedded Software Engineers for its Weapons Integration and Mission Solutions (WIMS) organization in Beavercreek, OH. This role is part of the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) Embedded Software Engineering Team, focusing on Embedded Operational Flight Program modernization, sustainment, emulation, and simulation. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and contribute to impactful, revolutionary systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain embedded real-time software and tools following best practices and standards.
• Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements development, modeling and design, testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
• Provide leadership in solving complex problems.
• Interact with Program Management and customers using excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

Associate Engineer Embedded Software

• Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM-related discipline.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python and Object-Oriented programming.
• Proficiency in all areas of the software development lifecycle process from requirements to testing.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated self-starter able to efficiently operate in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.

Engineer Embedded Software

• Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM-related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct relevant experience with a B.S. degree; or 0 years with a Master’s degree.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python and Object-Oriented programming.
• Proficiency in all areas of the software development lifecycle process from requirements to testing.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated self-starter able to efficiently operate in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing/debugging software targeted at real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, Embedded Linux, or other real-time operating systems.
• Hands-on software/hardware integration and testing experience.
• Experience with the Agile software development process.
• Experience interfacing with customers and/or stakeholders.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience with assembly language, computer architecture, or board support packages.
• Experience analyzing system requirements to derive software design and test specifications.
• Experience using Agile management tools (e.g., Jira), automated testing tools (e.g., Jenkins), or software configuration management tools (e.g., git).
• Experience with software testing tools (e.g., Google Test).
• Experience with Linux (or similar) command line and shell scripting.
• Experience programming Input/Output device interfaces (e.g., serial, MIL-STD-1553, sockets/ethernet).
• Experience with multi-threaded programming and ensuring data integrity.
• Experience using AI to aid software development.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 – $98,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $118,900.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
