Associate / Engineer Embedded Software

About the Role

Northrop Grumman Defense Sector is seeking an Associate Embedded Software Engineer or Embedded Software Engineer for its Weapons Integration and Mission Solutions (WIMS) organization in Oklahoma City, OK. This role is part of the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) Embedded Software Engineering Team, focusing on the modernization and sustainment of Embedded Avionics Operational Flight Programs. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers in a full-time, on-site position.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain embedded operational flight programs using software development best practices and standards.
• Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements development, modeling and design, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
• Provide leadership in solving complex problems.
• Interact with Program Management, external suppliers, and/or government customers; strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Requirements

This position may be filled at either the Associate Engineer Embedded Software or Engineer Embedded Software level.

Associate Engineer Embedded Software

• Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM-related discipline.
• Proficiency in C/C++/Ada or other Object-Oriented programming languages.
• Proficiency in all areas of the formal software development lifecycle process from requirements to testing.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated self-starter able to efficiently operate in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.

Engineer Embedded Software

• Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM-related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct relevant experience with a B.S. degree; minimum of 0 years of direct relevant experience with a Master’s degree.
• Proficiency in C/C++/Ada or other Object-Oriented programming languages.
• Proficiency in all areas of the formal software development lifecycle process from requirements to testing.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated self-starter able to efficiently operate in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• Experience developing/debugging software targeted at real-time embedded operating systems (VxWorks, Embedded Linux).
• Experience developing/debugging automated test applications.
• Hands-on experience with software/hardware integration and testing.
• Experience with encoding and decoding digital data.
• Experience with the Agile software development process.
• Experience interfacing with customers and/or stakeholders.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience with airworthiness standards (DO-254, DO-178, MIL-HDBK-516).
• Experience analyzing system requirements to derive software design and test specifications.
• Experience using Jira/Bitbucket/Git/SVN.
• Experience with Wind River Real-Time Operating Systems.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
