About the role

Kleinfelder is looking for ambitious engineers to join our Gas Transmission Systems team as Associate Engineers in our Columbus, OH office. This role supports natural gas utilities and pipeline operators by performing activities such as cost estimating, field measurements, preparation and correction of field drawings, ordering material, initiation of permits, preparing operating and maintenance instructions, data analysis, compilation and reporting of technical data, and related duties.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data and gather information or documents
  • Perform standard computations and analysis
  • Perform basic design tasks
  • Prepare drawings and visual aids
  • Assist on tasks including preparation of material specification/selection, technical reports, plans and procedures, drawings, permit applications, project documentation, and computer aided design (CAD) work
  • Observe construction activities
  • Acquire basic knowledge and develop skills in assigned workstreams
  • Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established Kleinfelder, industry, and client standards, specifications, and processes to perform assigned tasks
  • Perform routine technical work not requiring previous experience
  • Acquire understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Exercise limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work
  • Demonstrate sound engineering judgment

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 0 - 3 years relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver’s license

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Qualifications (Desired)

  • Engineer-In-Training Certification
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software
  • Utility business understanding
