About the Role
The Associate Engineer is responsible for the detailed design of electric systems and components for Substation Facilities in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards. This includes preparation of protection and control one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams. The position develops detailed protection and control design packages for electrical substation construction purposes and works under the supervision of experienced electrical engineers.
Responsibilities
- Use Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Bentley Microstation, and/or Bentley Substation software to prepare electrical substation equipment including schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings
- Perform voltage drop calculations to ensure proper cable sizing
- Prepare 2D drawings of one-line/elementary diagrams, control building layouts, panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and power distribution systems
- Consult with electrical engineers and engineering supervisors to develop 2D drawings for final construction packages
Requirements
- Engineering Technology Degree
- 0–2 years of experience in protection and control design
- Design experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical, Bentley Microstation, and/or Bentley Substation
