About the role

The Associate Director of Talent and Human Resources at Envision Education is responsible for building equitable hiring systems, supporting staff credentialing, and developing talent strategies across the full employee life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Talent acquisition and hiring:

    • Partner with the Director of HR and COO to set annual hiring priorities and develop a talent acquisition strategy aligned with Envision's organizational goals and equity commitments.
    • Build and manage relationships with school and district leaders to understand staffing needs across Envision's campuses and develop proactive pipelines to meet them.
    • Design and continuously improve full-cycle hiring processes - from sourcing through onboarding - that deliver an equitable, high-quality experience for all candidates.
    • Develop and refine recruitment partnerships, pipelines, systems, tools, and data tracking to support continuous improvement in hiring quality, speed, and equity outcomes.
    • Implement attraction, screening, and selection practices that reflect Envision's anti-racist and pro-Black strategy and advance the goal of building a diverse staff.
    • Support and coordinate full-cycle recruitment, partnership, and pipeline logistics, including job postings, resume review, interview scheduling, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding compliance.
  • Credentialing and compliance:

    • Serve as the organization's primary resource and manager for state-mandated credentialing processes for new hires and existing staff, including General Education, Special Education, and Designated Subjects credentials.
    • Design and oversee systems for monitoring staff certification status and providing personalized credentialing support to ensure full compliance across all sites.
    • Partner with the Director and school leaders to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, charter, and local employment requirements related to hiring and certification.
  • Talent development and retention:

    • Collaborate with the Director of HR and Talent to develop and implement strategies that support the retention, growth, and sustained engagement of staff.
    • Support the design and ongoing refinement of onboarding experiences that reflect Envision's culture and set new staff up for long-term success.
    • Contribute to the development of performance management tools, growth pathways, and professional development structures that are values-aligned and equity-centered.
    • Design and lead staff recognition practices that celebrate contributions, affirm belonging, and reflect Envision's culture and values.
    • Track and analyze retention and talent data to identify trends and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • HR operations and employee experience:

    • Collaborate with the HR Manager on employee lifecycle processes - including onboarding, offboarding, and credentialing - to ensure consistency, compliance, and a positive staff experience.
    • Serve as a resource for managers and staff on HR policy interpretation, employee relations questions, and process navigation.
    • Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a workplace culture grounded in inclusion, accountability, and belonging.
    • Partner with payroll, finance, and operations to support accurate and timely compensation processes and benefits administration.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and leadership:

    • Partner closely with the Director of HR and Talent to advance the vision, strategy, and priorities of the talent function across the organization.
    • Collaborate with school administrators, operations, finance, and communications teams on talent-related projects and initiatives.
    • Model reflective practice around personal identity and its influence on professional decisions, and actively contribute to a culture of equity and inclusion within the HR and Talent team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 5-7+ years of Talent Management experience in an educational setting or non-profit organization
  • Exposure to core areas of Human Resources management, including: Compensation, Benefits and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate, communicate, and work with diverse groups of people orally and in writing
  • Highly organized multi-tasker with an ability to prioritize, adapt easily, and work independently within set deadlines
  • Commitment to the mission of Envision Education and anti-racist and pro-Black practices in the workplace
  • Ability and willingness to travel between schools located in San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward, CA, and to work evenings and weekends as events may require
  • Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes

Compensation & Benefits

The starting range for this role is between $95,000 and $110,000. Other benefits include paid sick leave, paid vacation time, excellent health benefits package with employer contribution to benefits, optional Flexible Benefits Plan, including dependent care, medical care, parking, and transit, 403b Plan, and life insurance at no cost to employee.
