About the role

Carrier Commercial Service has an opening for an Associate Director, Data Center Start-up & Commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an organization of professional project managers and team leaders responsible for a portfolio of start-up and commissioning projects across Data Center construction sites. In this role, you will ensure start-up readiness and execution at strategic customer locations in the Americas. You will also oversee resource allocation, governance, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. This high-impact role is dedicated to ensuring flawless execution of newly delivered products, exceeding customer SLAs, and setting the stage for long-term maintenance agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of professional project managers dedicated to the start-up, commissioning, and field modification of Carrier products for the Data Center vertical.
  • Develop a readiness assessment for the start-up and commissioning team, ensuring deployment of project managers and technician resources.
  • Work closely with data center customers, contractors, sub-contractors, and commissioning agents to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Create and execute a full lifecycle project plan for each customer site, ensuring on-time delivery, within scope, and within budget.
  • Systemically track and measure planned and actual start-up and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure flawless on-time execution of start-up and commissioning at customer locations.
  • Meet customer performance expectations, resolving issues and escalating to senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for start-up and commissioning.
  • Ensure effective turnover to the field service National Team and customer program office.
  • Continuously improve business and operational processes, driving value chain productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 8+ years’ experience in direct or indirect leadership roles in operations, sales, aftermarket, strategy, or general management.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time within the USA and internationally (Canada) as required by business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, industrial engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and/or learning agility.
  • Experience leading and executing complex projects.
  • Experience supervising field service technicians.
  • Deep experience in field service.
  • Strong ability to lead and develop diverse, cross-functional project teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to lead large programs with speed and a bias for action.
  • Ability to manage teams without formal authority through influence and relationships.
  • Skill in using project management tools.
  • Knowledge of service operations from start-up to end-of-life replacement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across a wide audience.
  • Ability to identify innovative ways to work faster and simpler.
  • Ability to think outside the box, innovate, take risks, and implement progressive solutions.
  • Demonstrated results in process improvement and driving field productivity.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is between $143,000.00 and $286,000.00. Factors affecting pay within this range include skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
