Associate Director of Operations Maintenance

Responsibilities
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of the entire Operations team, including staff management, project work, contractor coordination, and inter-department communication.
- Provides technical expertise and support for modern building systems, HVAC and lighting controls, and equipment with dedicated attention to energy monitoring and improvements.
- Resolves problems that arise in the normal course of the workday and negotiates and resolves problems where exceptional degrees of discretion, judgment, and specialized knowledge are required.
- Provides leadership, positive example, strong communication, and team-building skills to staff.
- Performs hands-on and supervisory work over trade staff and employees involved in maintenance, repair, and construction at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required. A college degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven effective experience supervising a team of people to excellence is required.
- Experience utilizing building automation systems, lighting control systems, fire systems, rooftop units service and installation experience, and prior experience using automated work order systems is required.
- Minimum 2 years building operations and maintenance related experience and/or training is required.
- Must be a positive representative of the Gardens, both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees and the public.
- Must be committed to working safely at all times.
Qualifications
- Ability to effectively present information to leaders, public groups, and/or board of directors.
- Proven ability to effectively motivate and lead staff and manage vendors.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and spoken, excellent human relations skills; strong organizational and computer skills and abilities.
- Excellent customer service, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans when necessary.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
