About the role

DREAM, originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, serves more than 2,500 youth annually across East Harlem and the South Bronx through seven PreK-12 charter schools and community programs. The organization focuses on rigorous academics, social-emotional learning, family engagement, and health and wellness to prepare students for success.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs Regents and AP-aligned 9-12 math courses that are culturally and historically responsive and promote student achievement;
  • Selects, adapts, or creates unit plans, assessments, lesson plans, and instructional materials for DREAM’s 9-12 math curriculum;
  • Collaborates with the Network Director of STEM and other stakeholders to design a multi-year curriculum and assessment process;
  • Analyzes student data to assess the effectiveness of curricular design and implementation, making necessary revisions and creating action plans;
  • Facilitates high-quality professional development for teachers and leaders to support curriculum implementation;
  • Observes and analyzes math instruction and student and teacher data to support instructional improvement;
  • Coaches academic deans and math department chairs to improve instructional leadership, content knowledge, and curricular expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Math, Math Education, or related field preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience teaching and/or leading high school math, with a record of strong achievement for ALL students;
  • Minimum 1 year of school leadership, including experience with design and execution of adult professional development and coaching;
  • Advanced knowledge of AP and Regents course design, SAT preparation, standards alignment, assessment design, and pedagogical best practices in high school math;
  • Deep knowledge of Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics content;
  • A strong analytic, performance management, accountability, and systems-thinking orientation;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and ability to connect with a diverse group of people;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences;
  • A drive to succeed and achieve great results on behalf of all students, especially those furthest from opportunity;
  • A deep commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in our schools;
  • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM.

Working Expectations

  • The Associate Director of High School Math is part of the Curriculum and Instruction Team, working a minimum of 3 days a week on-site and up to 2 days a week remote, with some weeks requiring more days on-site.

Compensation

$105,000 to $115,000 per year, with potential for annual performance-based increases.
