About the Role

The AoPS Academy Associate Director at our Irvine campus assists with administrative and logistical operations, teaches weekly math classes, and partners with the Campus Director on hiring and training part-time staff and teachers. This full-time, year-round position is ideal for someone looking to build management and leadership experience, with strong math subject knowledge and outstanding classroom management skills.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and pedagogical instincts to teach our advanced curriculum and coach other instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes, actively engaging students and expertly managing the classroom.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of part-time staff.
  • Assist with the campus’s administrative, logistical, and customer service operations.
  • Support campus enrollment and sales efforts by meeting with prospective families to assess student academic ability, determine fit, and explain program benefits.
  • Counsel current students and families as needed to provide student support.
  • Help design and implement campus community-building activities to strengthen campus culture and improve student retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; strongly preferred in education or a field closely related to the subject area.
  • Advanced degree related to the subject area preferred.
  • Strong content knowledge in math.
  • Minimum 1-year teaching experience; experience with advanced K-12 students preferred.
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US; sponsorship (including STEM-OPT and H-1B) is not available.

Schedule

AoPS Academy operates as an after-school program, with most classes and family meetings occurring during evenings and weekends. Associate Directors work a nontraditional schedule during the academic year. Summer hours typically shift to a standard Monday to Friday schedule.

Pay

Hiring range: $82,600 - $84,575.
