About the role

The Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort is part of a complex of four Marriott Properties in the Lake Buena Vista area. Located centrally between Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, the Sheraton is a key part of HEI's operations. Responsibilities

  • Perform all accounting functions in the event of assistance.
  • Schedule, monitor, and evaluate controllable departmental expenditures to stay within budget constraints.
  • Establish and monitor scheduling of all accounting associates, ensuring consistency with business volume and staff needs.
  • Plan effectively to meet both guest and staff demands.
  • Aid in producing financial statements within designated timelines for hotel management and corporate requirements.
  • Verify compliance with Finance SOP manual and participate in and critique asset inventories.
  • Maintain records storage area in compliance with record retention requirements.
  • Prepare and manage sales tax returns and other applicable tax liabilities.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable functions, including collection calls and ensuring timely cash deposits.
  • Assist in Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts each period, reviewing problem accounts with the Director of Finance and adjusting entries to the general ledger.
  • Identify, screen, and attract management candidates from outside the company.
  • Train associates in job responsibilities and comply with attendance rules.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • One year of experience in Hotel or Hospitality related Finance and Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Hotel Financial Statements and reconciliation of A and L accounts.
  • An analytical approach to problems with high regard for detail and accuracy.
  • Sound administrative and managerial skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills.
  • Effective training, coaching, and counseling abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
