About the role
The Legal Entity Controller (“LEC”) for Apollo Global Management (“AGM”) will oversee entity and department level accounting, including strategic investments, journal entries, and monthly analytics. This role will also support the LEC team on all reporting around Apollo Capital Solutions (“ACS”).
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper accounting treatment is applied to all management companies / advisory entity transactions and balances, including management fees, carried interest, equity method investments and other related transactions.
- Coordinate with Deal Professionals, Accounting Policy, Senior Management, and other teams across Apollo on strategic investments to ensure proper accounting treatment and reporting.
- Manage and administer a controlled and fluid iLevel reporting platform with strategic partners.
- Facilitate monthly and quarterly ACS transaction fee and revenue share preparation and reporting; Manage and coordinate on the GAAP and Non-GAAP reporting requirements related to ACS revenue recognition and organization.
- Continue to advance and improve workflow surrounding GAAP to Non-GAAP reconciliation and FRE exclusion with a focus on automating and streamlining processes.
- Contribute to the quarterly pending deal process ensuring appropriate allocations across Apollo funds.
- Aid in quarterly internal and external reporting, which includes earnings release, 10-Q/K and related disclosures, as well as Marketing and Investor Relations materials.
- Maintain a strong SOX controls environment and ensure proper documentation of our SOX control processes.
- Collaborate with Corporate & Finance Tech team on the development and maintenance of FFHO Fund cube and other Strategic Tech initiatives.
- Prepare detailed Balance Sheet and Income Statement variance and fluctuation analysis in connection with monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reporting presentations.
- Prepare and assist on the filings and audit of statutory Financial Statements.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by Senior Management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong U.S. GAAP accounting expertise (CPA or CA preferred).
- 6-8 years of professional work experience (prior experience in Big 4 or a mix of Big 4/Private preferred).
- Strong Financial Reporting background preferred.
- Highly organized, strong work ethic, and can work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Capable of taking a process/task and “run with it” to conclusion is a critical characteristic of this role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as individual will collaborate with various internal departments (i.e., Fund Controllers, Accounting Policy, Portfolio Company, Deal Professionals, etc.).
