About the role

The Associate Director, Forecasting & Performance Analytics plays a crucial role in leading forecasting and national performance analytics across Agios' marketed and pipeline portfolio, with a focus on rare and genetically defined diseases. This role involves building and maintaining forecasts, developing long-range plans, and providing performance reporting to support commercial and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and evolve operational, unit-based forecasts across the portfolio – demand, revenue, and patient-based models, including scenario planning and risk and opportunity assessments for multiple launches and in-line products.
  • Develop and manage long-range planning (LRP) forecasts in partnership with Commercial, Finance, and Corporate Strategy, clearly documenting assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Select and apply the most appropriate forecasting approach for each question – epidemiology-based, demand-based, or analog-based, and continuously strengthen forecasting best practices, tools, and processes.
  • Own national-level commercial performance reporting and analytics, building and maintaining the KPI frameworks, dashboards, and scorecards that track launch and in-line performance for brand, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Surface emerging performance trends, likely drivers, and areas of opportunity by integrating secondary data, field intelligence, competitive signals, and market research.
  • Deliver ad hoc forecasting and analytics to support board meetings, earnings calls, and investor discussions.
  • Support business development and corporate strategy with market sizing, valuation inputs, and commercial forecasts for pipeline and partnering opportunities.
  • Guide the secondary analytics and primary research needed to validate forecast assumptions, model architecture, and patient populations.
  • Support third-party forecasting resources to extend capacity while maintaining quality and timelines.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in forecasting, commercial analytics, or performance reporting in the biopharmaceutical industry; bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Strong forecasting and financial modeling skills, including dynamic Excel models; able to build, present, defend, and maintain operational and long-range forecasts with a high degree of precision.
  • Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical secondary data sources (e.g., specialty pharmacy, claims and longitudinal patient, sales, and payer data) and how to apply them to forecasting and performance analytics.
  • Experience designing and interpreting KPI frameworks, dashboards, and launch and in-line performance reporting.
  • Experience in rare or genetically defined diseases, including in-line and pipeline products, strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting business development or licensing assessments with forecasting and market sizing a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to distill complex models into clear narratives and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Well organized, analytical, and a strong strategic thinker; able to challenge assumptions and go beyond the obvious answer.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors or offshore analytical resources to deliver on time and within budget.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and techniques.

  • Experience with project management tools like Asana or Monday.com.

Benefits
