ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS, Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine

About the role

The Facilities and Space Manager reports to the Associate Dean of Finance & Administrative Operation at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (SOM).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day facility actions.
• Partner with Campus Planning & Operations (CPO) on space renovations and improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate space inventory and data.
• Analyze facility usage to optimize efficiency.
• Advance the school's sustainability initiatives in alignment with University-wide goals.
• Serve as the SOM contact for all construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Serve as the liaison for SOM with IST, EHS, and other University departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or building operations, preferably in an academic or healthcare environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., IFMA, LEED, OSHA) are a plus.
• Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance processes, and regulatory requirements within medical or research facilities.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and resource management is beneficial.
• Previous experience as a liaison or point person for facilities-related needs is beneficial.
• A self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational and team leadership skills, strong customer service orientation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Boston University compliance policies.

Benefits

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and internal pay comparison.

Pay

Minimum $71,700.00, maximum $129,100.00.
