Associate Director, Cost Management

The Associate Director position is an entry-level management role that allows team members to develop skills needed to become a Director. The Associate Director in the Cost & Commercial Management department assembles and supervises the Cost & Commercial Management team on assigned projects. This position also prepares fee proposals, negotiates professional services agreements, and prepares and provides quality assurance to project cost estimates. The Associate Director drives organic business development, earns trust from internal and external stakeholders, and serves as a key point of contact for clients.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a large client or multiple small clients by supervising appropriate communications with client management and the Cost & Commercial Management team.
- Promote opportunities for repeat business and create highly favorable references through performance excellence and client relationship management.
- Maintain monthly project budgets for current and forecasted expenditures, including monthly billing and projections.
- Lead the development of staff through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Support recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Develop and manage fee proposals.
- Coordinate with other business units to provide a seamless integrated service delivery approach.
- Provide mentorship and training to team members in understanding methods of measurement, construction technology, contracts, and delivery methods.
- Participate in industry events.
- Develop new or existing client relationships and generate new revenue.
- Manage business operations for assigned areas, including maintaining revenue and margins.
- Meet business development goals assigned by manager, including fee revenue and profitability targets.
- Generate fee revenue as set by manager.
- Demonstrate ability to successfully sell services across service lines, working with service line leaders.
- Provide value engineering solutions to clients by identifying opportunities for savings and ensuring material substitutions are equal.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attendance at work during normal business hours.
Requirements

- Proven business development skills that have grown current market over the past year.
Qualifications
- Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
- Experience: 6 to 12 years in Cost & Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying with professional accreditation.
- Preferred Certification: Professional accreditation – MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE, or equivalent.
Pay
The salary range for this full-time role is $127,300.00–$178,233.36 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience, and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
