Associate Director, Cost Management

As a member of our highly reputable cost management and estimating team, you’ll deliver solutions in conceptual estimating, budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, value management, economic forecasting, milestone reports, pre- and post-contract auditing, change order review and reconciliation, BIM 5D cost modeling, LEED cost analysis, life cycle costing, and more.

This role, based in our Chicago, IL office, focuses on full life cycle cost management with an emphasis on preconstruction. You’ll provide organic business development support, build trust with internal and external stakeholders, and heavily support our hospitality sector.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a large client or multiple small clients by supervising communications with client management and the Cost & Commercial Management team.
• Promote opportunities for repeat business and create favorable references through performance excellence and client relationship management.
• Maintain monthly project budgets for current and forecasted expenditures, including monthly billing and projections.
• Lead staff development through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Support recruitment and talent acquisition.
• Develop and manage fee proposals.
• Coordinate with other business units to provide seamless integrated service delivery.
• Mentor and train team members in methods of measurement, construction technology, contracts, and delivery methods.
• Participate in industry events to develop new or existing client relationships and generate new revenue.
• Manage business operations for assigned areas, including revenue and margins.
• Meet business development goals, including fee revenue and profitability targets.
• Sell services across service lines in collaboration with service line leaders.
• Provide Value Engineering solutions by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring material substitutions are equal.
• Attend work during normal business hours.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Experience: 6 to 12 years in Cost & Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying with professional accreditation.
• Preferred Certification: MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE, or equivalent.

Pay

The salary range for this full-time role is $127,300.00–$178,233.36 per year. Ranges are determined based on position, geography, client and industry experience, and level. This range reflects base salary only, not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
