Associate Director, Clinical Operations (Retina Program)

About the role

This role will lead operational priorities focused on execution quality, efficiency, safety, and measurable performance outcomes. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a life sciences environment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to develop and manage clinical programs aligning with corporate objectives
• Lead operational planning and execution of clinical trials, managing timelines and budgets
• Mentor Clinical Trial Managers and junior team members in various operational activities
• Oversee daily functions of Clinical Trial Operations and Data Management
• Collaborate on budget planning and vendor management for clinical trials
• Ensure trials are inspection-ready and actively managed by the Study Execution Team
• Contribute to the development of clinical SOPs and participate in protocol reviews

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in Life Science or related discipline required
• Advanced degree (preferred) in fields like M.S., MPH, MHS, or MBA
• 9+ years of industry experience in clinical development with 3 years in managerial roles or 4+ years with an advanced degree
• Experience in late-phase clinical trials; relevant experience across all phases
• Strong knowledge of FDA and ICH guidelines, GCP, and clinical trial practices
