About The Role

This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employees are required to occasionally travel to meet in person (4-6 times per year) for business purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Research and clear permissions for AP Assessments (60%)
  • Review stakeholder requests for use of third-party content across AP courses and make determinations about permissions, fair use, and public domain
  • Facilitate permissions requests with rightsholders when needed; ensure that we are seeking the appropriate rights needed; handle all correspondence with rightsholders from request through contract signature and payment
  • Adhere to agreed-upon schedules to ensure that permissions deadlines are met; propose alternative pathways and solutions when permissions cannot be secured
  • Support communications for AP Permissions & Licensing (30%)
  • Partner with AP course teams and course product managers to ensure copyright tracking for all current projects is up-to-date and provides all needed information such as credit lines
  • Liaise with Assessment Production product managers to ensure that permissions requests are submitted with proper timing in the process and documentation
  • Report on progress, at regular intervals, in writing and via scheduled meetings; ensure that all team members are aware of potential risks and propose alternative solutions
  • Make informed, independent judgment calls on permissions and content issues; escalate issues and steer to higher-level resolution when needed
  • Receive reports on AP content posted online without permission, handle removals, and maintain correspondence in Copyright Violations email inbox
  • Drive Process Development and Improvement (10%)
  • Collaborate with peers within and outside the broader AP Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current permissions management practices
  • Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis

Requirements

You Have:

  • 4+ years' experience with copyright permissions and / or licensing
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of copyright including public domain and fair use, and the process of requesting permission from rightsholders
  • Expertise in Smartsheet , MS Excel and item bank management.
  • Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and draw insightful conclusions to drive decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • The ability to travel 4-6 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business
  • Are eligible to work in the USA for any employer

A Thoughtful Approach To Compensation The hiring range for this role is $40,000–$75,000. Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board. We aim to make our best offer upfront, rooted in fairness, transparency, and market data. We adjust salaries by location to ensure fairness, no matter where you live.
