Job Title Associate Director, Academic Support Agency Texas A&M University Department Texas A&M University School Of Law Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Fort Worth, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description What We Want We are seeking a collaborative and student-focused Associate Director to support the continued success of our Academic Support Program. The ideal candidate will help develop and manage academic support initiatives in partnership with the Director of Academic Support, while also contributing to the design, administration, and instruction of the Preparing for Bar course and related bar exam support programs. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and teaching skills, as well as a commitment to fostering student achievement and academic excellence. You may upload them on the application under the CV/Resume section. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Juris Doctorate.Two years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Training in learning theories.Admission to bar of any state.Experience in actual practice of law.Experience in multi-cultural setting and/or with the student body. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Essential Duties/Tasks JD and LLM Academic Support - Conducts or arranges seminars and workshops for students Attends and evaluates TA performance in Academic Support sessions. Works with other departments to incorporate Academic Support into Orientation. Presents during first year and LLM orientation. Organizes and administers practice exams for all 1L substantive classes. Is available for student consultations, especially for at-risk students. Runs the second semester program for at-risk first year students. Works with upper classmen who are at-risk.Bar Academic Support - Assists the Director in planning, implementing, and designing the Preparing for the Bar Course. Assists in the planning, implementing, and designing the Bar Mentoring Program. Helps plan and present bar exam meetings for 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs. Conducts conferences with students preparing for the bar and tutors students preparing for the bar. Contributes to the development, management, and teaching of the Preparing for the Bar course. Works with other departments to support students who are studying for the bar exam.Academic Support Teaching Assistants - Conducts weekly teaching assistant training sessions. Recruits, interviews, and supervises first-year teaching assistants. Mentors and counsels new teaching assistants. Creates and modifies handbook for the teaching assistants.Academic Support Administration - Prepares lesson plans, handouts, and practice exams for the first-year program. Maintains appropriate program materials, administrative records, and attendance reports. Develops, enriches, and maintains the Academic Support section of the website. Maintains appropriate records for the second-semester program for at-risk students.Bar Support Mentors - Assists in hiring, training, and managing bar-prep mentors.
