Associate Dentist

Job Duties

• Performing exams and evaluating X-rays to determine a patient’s health
• Developing treatment plans to deal with any dental health issues
• Preparing patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or anesthesia)
• Performing dental cleanings and removing tooth plaque
• Identifying tooth decay, filling cavities, performing root canals, and applying crowns
• Administering and/or prescribing medications to decrease pain and improve patient health
• Providing cosmetic services like teeth whitening, bonding, and veneers to enhance the appearance of teeth
• Interacting with patients and instructing them on proper oral care
• Making measurements and fitting dental appliances
• Examining patients’ medical records and maintaining updated accurate records

Requirements

• A Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry or Doctor of Dental Surgery and a valid dentist license in the state of Virginia
• Experience with diagnosing decay by reading radiographs
• Experience using dental instruments to perform dentistry on patients
• Experience performing the following dental procedures: pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns, & extractions
• Experience with restorations, root canals, removable/fixed dental appliances
• Experience using behavior management techniques to perform dentistry on adolescent patients
