About the role
The Associate Dean of Student Conduct and Community Standards serves as the Senior Conduct Officer and a member of the Assistant Vice President for Student Life’s leadership team. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Senior Conduct Officer and a member of the AVP’s leadership team.
- Administers the student code of conduct and ensures compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
- Oversees the student conduct review process, including administrative and board review hearings.
- Manages and supervises conduct board members and serves as an administrative hearing officer and appeals officer.
- Develops and implements educational programming to prevent high-risk behaviors and foster a safe environment.
- Manages the Student Academic Grade Grievance process in consultation with faculty and other academic partners.
- Manages the unit’s budget and staff supervision.
- Serves on various campus and Division committees.
Requirements
Essential qualifications include:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, or a combination of education and related experience.
- Five (5) years’ experience in student conduct, residential life, prevention programming, or other relevant areas of student affairs or demonstrated related work experience.
- Knowledge of Relevant Laws and Policies including but not limited to FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, ADA/504, etc.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of access, inclusion, and diversity in higher education.
- Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and all external constituencies.
- Proficiency in computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, databases, electronic communication, and web-based applications.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience responding to crises and behavior intervention.
- Experience in program design, management, and implementation as well as assessment and evaluation.
- Experience in management of budgets and personnel.
- Strong organizational skills to work independently and to prioritize workload under the pressure of competing assignments and dynamic deadlines.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
