About the Role

The Campus Associate Dean of Student Development is responsible for managing day-to-day campus operations of the student services functions in close collaboration with all CT State Community College Associate Vice-Presidents. This includes Student Life, Student Activities, Student Conduct, and Title IX. The role ensures all campus student services operate effectively and develops strong collaborative relationships with faculty and staff. This position involves major personnel decisions, including staffing, hiring, firing, evaluation, promotion, and training of employees.

Working alongside the Associate Dean for Campus Operations, the Campus Associate Dean ensures students can access all academic buildings and services necessary to support student success. Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing all student conduct matters
• Serving as the Title IX Deputy Officer for the campus
• Supervising the Director of Student Activities and Student Government
• Collaborating with central administrative staff to meet student needs, including:
• Interface with CT State academic Associate Deans and Program Area Deans to ensure classes adhere to approved syllabi
• Responding to student issues with instructors in collaboration with academic leadership
• Student Success programs (academic advising, career services, Veterans’ Affairs)
• Student Support programs addressing food and housing insecurity, mental health, and childcare

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Campus Dean of Students & Faculty, the Campus Associate Dean of Student Development manages day-to-day campus operations of student services through the following essential duties:

• Student Support Services: Direct activities supporting student development and ensure compliance with all policies and processes
• Student Relationships: Build and maintain a safe, educational campus climate, ensuring students have resources to complete their academic programs
• Public Relations: Support the Campus Dean in maintaining community connections, communicating event information, and coordinating campus activities open to the public

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related academic discipline
• Two or more years of administrative and managerial experience in higher education, including supervisory experience

Skills

• Experience developing and implementing student conduct policies
• Knowledge of regional and specialized accreditation standards relevant to campus programming
• Leadership, direction, and evaluation of student support staff in higher education
• Research, information, and computer literacy, including:
• Development of databases for outcomes assessment
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Evidence-based decision making
• Proven leadership and collaboration with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience planning, implementing, and assessing campus programming promoting student engagement, retention, belonging, leadership development, and success
• Success in developing partnerships with faculty, staff, community organizations, and external stakeholders to enhance student life and engagement
• Experience managing department-level budgets and providing fiscal oversight for Student Activities, including programming, orientation, Student Government, and student clubs

Pay

Approximate annual salary: $106,523
