Associate Dean for Clinical and Health Promotion Programs

About the role

The Associate Dean for Clinical and Health Promotion Programs will provide strategic leadership as a key member of the College’s Administrative Leadership Team, overseeing all aspects of clinical and health promotion programs in partnership with the Dean. The role will champion excellence in existing programs, lead strategic planning to expand and innovate initiatives, and enhance the College’s impact in health sciences education and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Program Leadership and Excellence
  • Provide strategic leadership for the College’s clinical programs, championing innovation in service delivery, quality, and compliance with accreditation, licensing, legal requirements, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with clinic directors and providers to ensure optimal patient/client and learner experiences.
  • Partner with Finance and Administration and clinic leaders to improve financial and administrative processes, including facilities, billing, scheduling, and medical records systems.
  • Lead the design and implementation of clinical programs to better meet community needs and provide new training opportunities for students.
• Health Promotion Programs Leadership and Excellence
  • Provide strategic leadership for the College’s health promotion programs, championing innovation in delivery and maximizing community impact.
  • Partner with the Dean and state entities to develop a more comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to health promotion activities.
• Clinical Education Program Innovation and Expansion
  • Explore and implement expansion of clinical education programs, including assessing community needs, student interest, program feasibility, and accreditation requirements.
• External Partnerships
  • Expand and enhance community partnerships for clinical and health promotion programs, leveraging interdisciplinary expertise to increase community impact.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, clinical educational programs, and community partners to expand clinical placement opportunities and ensure quality experiences for students and practice sites.
• Scholarly Engagement
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda and teaching presence that models academic excellence, connects the Associate Dean to faculty experience, and contributes to the intellectual vitality of the College.
• Governance & Advisory Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Dean on clinical and health promotion initiatives, bringing data-informed insights, creative problem-solving, and innovation.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a clinical field (MD, DPT, DNP, etc.) or a terminal clinical master’s degree (PA, NP, etc.) with a doctoral degree relevant to the work of the College of Health Sciences.
• Active license and certifications appropriate for the clinical field.
• Strong record of excellence in clinical service delivery.
• Strong record of leadership in clinical programs.
• Demonstrated achievement of teaching, practice scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Clinical Professor or Associate Professor.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively.
• Demonstrated commitment to student and faculty success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and assessing health promotion programs.
• Experience leading accreditation and licensing processes for health services programs.
• Experience leading billing, scheduling, and medical records system processes for health services programs.
