Associate Dean - Adjunct Faculty Support

Responsibilities

  • Provide service and administrative support for adjunct/part-time faculty and full-time faculty throughout Academic Affairs.
  • Lead and manage adjunct faculty recruitment, orientation, training, development, and classroom observations.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice President for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence to ensure consistency and continuity of quality service, support, and communications for all faculty.
  • Provide administrative leadership for developing and implementing effective services and support for adjunct/part-time faculty across all instructional delivery modes and locations.
  • Orient, evaluate, supervise, and encourage professional development of adjunct faculty and assigned staff.
  • Serve on faculty and administrative committees; participate in speaking engagements, conferences, recruitment, and student/faculty events.
  • Design and deliver orientation programs for new adjunct/part-time faculty using multiple delivery modes, in consultation with Divisions, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, and other units.
  • Provide administrative communications and updates to continuing adjunct/part-time faculty.
  • Partner with the Associate Vice President to develop, implement, and refine the College's Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy in support of institutional priorities, student success, employee development, and workforce innovation.
  • Work closely with Academic Deans, Associate Deans, Coordinators, and Program Specialists to support adjunct/part-time faculty and ensure quality instruction.
  • Provide administrative assistance for recruiting and screening qualified adjunct/part-time faculty applicants for review and approval by the appropriate Dean.
  • Design and coordinate professional development programs tailored to the needs of adjunct/part-time and full-time faculty.
  • Implement a systematic approach for evaluating adjunct faculty performance, providing timely feedback to relevant stakeholders and faculty members.
  • Partner with the Interdisciplinary Faculty Chair of Professional Development to provide faculty development opportunities and in-service sessions.
  • Serve on College committees and attend meetings of Academic Administrators as requested.
  • Maintain working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements with the College of DuPage Adjunct Association (CODAA) and the College of DuPage Faculty Association (CODFA).
  • Effectively manage direct reports in the Adjunct Faculty Support department.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an academic discipline offered by the College.
  • Minimum of 5 years of college-level teaching experience.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, including computers.
  • Ability to work evenings periodically and travel occasionally to Regional Centers and other COD locations.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.
