Associate Data Engineer (Python / Azure) - Charlotte, NC
About the role
The role involves designing, building, and delivering data-driven solutions on the Quantexa platform, focusing on financial crime analytics, particularly anti-money laundering. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and agile delivery teams to transform complex banking data into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders and product owners to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and translate use cases into clear user stories and business rules.
- Analyze source systems and enterprise datasets to define data mappings, transformation logic, and data quality rules aligned with Quantexa standards.
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and transformations to support analytics, reporting, and investigative workflows.
- Configure and support end-to-end Quantexa solutions, including entity resolution, network modeling, scoring logic, validation, and UI components.
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog refinement, ensuring requirements are clearly understood by the delivery team.
- Document data logic, mappings, and solution design to maintain transparency, auditability, and effective knowledge transfer.
- Identify data inconsistencies, inefficiencies, or reliability risks and recommend improvements to enhance solution performance.
- Contribute to unit testing and validation to ensure solutions meet defined business and technical standards.
- Apply working knowledge of Python or Java, relational data models, cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks, and tools including Git, JIRA, and Confluence.
Requirements
Early-career / junior-level data engineer with a strong foundation in Python or Java, relational databases, cloud platforms like Azure and Databricks, and tools such as Git, JIRA, and Confluence. Experience with Agile methodologies and familiarity with data mapping, pipeline development, and data quality improvement is preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in data engineering or similar roles.
Skills
- Python or Java programming skills.
- Knowledge of relational databases and cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
