About The Role

Dow Jones is seeking a Corporate Communications Associate to join its global communications team in New York City. This role supports the delivery of a strategic, comprehensive communications playbook that leverages executive voices and key milestones to strengthen the Dow Jones narrative and drive brand authority. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications, the Associate will assist in executing external communication strategies across business lines including News, Energy, Risk, Enterprise, and Consumer. The ideal candidate is eager to kickstart their career with hands-on experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, adaptability, and a passion for learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support the global corporate communications team based in the New York City office on a hybrid schedule (3 days a week).
  • Monitor and record all external media placements, create media coverage reports, and track key campaign metrics.
  • Generate and maintain media lists and databases.
  • Draft and assist in preparing press materials, including press releases, media alerts, pitch notes, and briefing documents.
  • Contribute to corporate social media strategy by sourcing updates, creating and editing content, and tracking engagement.
  • Research and draft company and executive award submissions.
  • Identify new media outlets to expand Dow Jones’ media relations approach.
  • Ideate, create, and edit content for the Dow Jones Press Hub to ensure fresh, relevant, and multiplatform storytelling.
  • Maintain team accountability by updating weekly reports for executives.
  • Flag industry news to inspire timely pitching opportunities.
  • Assist with pitching day-to-day stories across business lines.
  • Support multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Use video editing and design programs to create digital assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of professional experience, with a demonstrated interest in communications (e.g., through interviews, student groups, or internships).
  • Internship in public relations or communications strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with video editing and design programs to create digital assets.
  • Interest in working at a global company within the media industry.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities across teams and projects.
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn, innovate, and challenge the status quo when appropriate.
  • Strong judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information.

Pay

$60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year. This range reflects our good faith estimate and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Bonus-eligible roles have targets determined by market benchmarks and individual contributions.
