Associate Controls Engineer

About the role
Provide day-to-day support for all division PLCs and their related hardware, software, and equipment. Respond to user needs concerning equipment use, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and training. Implement standard engineering practices and provide detailed documentation upon project completion.
Responsibilities
- Recommend, architect, and develop PLC solutions to meet business needs related to manufacturing operations.
- Design and engineer programmable logic controls (PLCs) and modifications for a wide variety of manufacturing production equipment; maintain schematics.
- Develop SCADA systems and HMI controls.
- Represent and/or support the Engineering team during the R&D phase of new machines and concepts.
- Direct electrical assembly activities such as panel fabrication and component wiring.
- Specify and correctly apply a variety of robotic multi-axis motion control platforms.
- Integrate machine vision systems and third-party equipment/peripherals.
- Perform technical writing.
Requirements
- BSEE from an accredited university or college (or equivalent training and experience) and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience utilizing the listed skills.
- 1 to 3 years of experience working as a PLC technician or engineer designing PLCs and modifications.
- Experience in network systems and terminal servers.
- Computer and controls programming experience in relevant languages including Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC, Rockwell Software, SQL, and Microsoft SQL Database programming.
- Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) software and Visual Basic.
- Experience working on electric motor starters, motion controllers, drives, disconnects, and switchgear.
