ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT, TECHNOLOGY DESIGN (REMOTE)
Job Summary
Position Overview
Waveguide is seeking an immediate opening for an associate technology design consultant. This full-time position is anticipated to be remote, with some travel to project sites required.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination and Communication
- Internal coordination support: Complete assigned internal deliverables and inputs under the direction of senior team members to maintain aligned, on-schedule delivery.
- Requirements understanding: Incorporate documented project requirements, decisions, and dependencies into assigned work products to support alignment across disciplines.
- Meeting preparation support: Contribute to meeting preparation through accurate documentation, updates, and supporting materials as requested by senior team members.
- Basic issue awareness: Escalate obvious gaps, inconsistencies, or questions encountered during assigned work to senior team members for review and resolution.
- Professional communication: Build productive working relationships through clear written communication, responsiveness to direction, and a hospitality-forward approach.Design Development and Technical Documentation
- Project Delivery Support: Support senior team members in project delivery through execution of assigned design-phase tasks, including preparation of technical documentation, product research, coordination, QA reviews, and supporting materials.
- Document Preparation and Maintenance: Draft and maintain project documentation, including program reports, design narratives, and project specifications, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout all design phases.
- Infrastructure Coordination: Assist with coordination of AV and communications infrastructure requirements with related low-voltage systems by incorporating defined requirements and markups into assigned deliverables.
- Design Review Participation: Participate in internal and cross-discipline design reviews by preparing materials, documenting feedback, and updating assigned work products under the direction of senior team members.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in QA reviews of design deliverables and support construction coordination activities by verifying documentation accuracy and incorporating review comments.
- Site Observation and Verification: Support site observations and verifications by documenting conditions, capturing findings, and assisting senior team members with follow-up documentation as needed.Internal Responsibilities
- Team contribution: Contribute to Waveguide’s internal knowledge base and consulting community by accurately documenting lessons learned, following established best practices, and sharing relevant technical observations from assigned design-phase work as directed by senior team members.
- Process awareness and improvement: Support established design-phase consulting workflows by executing assigned tasks consistently and in accordance with defined processes. Identify and communicate basic inefficiencies, documentation gaps, or recurring issues observed during assigned work to senior team members for awareness and potential improvement.
- Professional Growth: Develop foundational knowledge in AV, Telecom and Acoustics. Achieve AVIXA CTS certification within the first year of employment.
Qualifications
One to two years of related professional experience in building engineering and design (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, audiovisual and low voltage systems or similar) or equivalent in education
Two-year or higher degree in a relevant technical field required. Four-year degree preferred.
AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) professional certification preferred (or commitment to achieve certification within 12 months)
Fundamental understanding of project management principles and design and construction processes
A general understanding of commercial and institutional AV technology applications and operations including familiarity with audio systems and sound reinforcement, video display technologies, video collaboration solutions, and digital signage platforms. Additionally, knowledge of AV signal management and integrated control systems is preferred, as well as experience with data networking.

Strong computer skills with proficiency in all MS Office applications, Bluebeam, and relevant AI tools
