About the role

Puget Sound Energy’s Customer & System Projects team is seeking an Associate Construction Projects Analyst to support new customer construction project teams with accounting, billing, and financial responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle. This role creates and maintains orders and notifications, monitors and resolves accounting discrepancies, and partners with project management teams to facilitate efficient project flow through PSE’s internal systems. All duties are performed in accordance with regulatory compliance obligations, WUTC rates and tariffs, company accounting policies, and SOX controls.

Responsibilities

  • Supports construction accounting activities and oversight for the regional project management team.
  • Creates, monitors, and edits work orders in SAP; maintains accurate technical master data.
  • Interprets construction project scopes to ensure compliance with company accounting policies and tariffs; generates customer billing by creating accurate non-consumption contract accounts, sales contracts, and other sales documents in SAP.
  • Audits facility agreements for pricing and customer data accuracy; supports resolution of issues related to accounting, SOX controls, and tariff interpretation; works with service providers to resolve blocked billing issues.
  • Performs accounting functions such as journal entries; conducts monthly problem order review and order clean-up; researches and resolves data and accounting problems.
  • Communicates with peers, customers, and management to ensure proper financial and accounting practices; develops ad hoc reporting as needed; supports system and process improvements.
  • Participates in emergency response efforts as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business, construction management, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in construction services or a related field.
  • Knowledge of utility operations, construction, and accounting.
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple responsibilities to meet plans and goals.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information professionally and influence without authority.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Microsoft Word.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues (e.g., reading and interpreting blueprints or FERC accounting) and identify solutions.
  • Proficiency with BW (Business Warehouse) and SAP.
  • Experience contributing to process improvements.
  • Experience developing ad hoc reporting with minimal assistance.
  • Previous work experience in the gas and/or electric utility industry.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $59,300.00 – $92,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals-based incentive bonuses.
