About the role

Working closely with the Assistant Director of CLOs and the Head of Structured Products, you will provide quantitative, analytical, and qualitative support across all aspects of Symetra’s $10+ billion CLO tranche investing portfolio, while also gaining exposure to additional structured asset classes. This role offers the opportunity to develop a wide variety of analytical and investment skills while building deep industry knowledge. You will operate within a small, experienced team and gain exposure to a broad range of CLO tranche investing activities. This is a hybrid work role based in Farmington, Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and improve the quantitative and qualitative evaluation and management of Symetra’s Structured Products portfolio, with a primary focus on CLOs.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of new investment opportunities, including both new issue and secondary transactions, through cash flow analysis, review of transaction portfolio and structural features, and CLO indenture analysis.
  • Track, analyze, and monitor existing investments by periodically reviewing trustee reports, performance data, and other industry publications.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of CLOs to develop a deeper understanding of credits, CLO collateral manager performance, and broader trends.
  • Support due diligence of CLO collateral managers.
  • Continuously develop and improve tools to optimize analytical and reporting processes.
  • Perform ad-hoc sector and security-level research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline is required, with evidentiary information supporting quantitative proficiency.
  • 0-3 years of experience in finance or related field.
  • Strong interest in capital markets and intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools (or a strong interest to learn).
  • Experience developing analytical and automation tools and working with large datasets.
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small-team environment.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization throughout employment.
  • Minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload (fiber, cable, or DSL).

Pay

Salary Range: $117,000 – $156,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
