HybridHealthcareFull-time

Jesse Whittle-Utter, LMFT and Rose Therapy Practice is seeking ambitious, trauma-informed AMFTs, APPCs, and ASWs to join a growing group private practice based in the California Bay Area. This is a great opportunity to complete your hours while building a thriving private-pay and insurance client base that you can transition into your own practice upon licensure. This position offers a pathway to building the clinical, marketing, and business skills necessary to succeed in this model, with seasoned private practice supervisors who can coach you through best practices.

About the Role

To ensure a strong mutual fit, we are prioritizing candidates who:

  • Are local to the Bay Area
  • Are interested in providing services in-person
  • Are interested in building a private-pay practice
  • Have the capacity and interest to build a caseload of 15-20 weekly sessions
  • And EITHER:
    • Have demonstrated experience building or maintaining a client referral pipeline (or comparable marketing/entrepreneurial experience), AND a marketing plan for private practice business development; OR
    • Have a current, active caseload to transition

Employed Associates will have access to office space across multiple locations in the Bay Area (depending on availability) and may also work virtually for some of their cases. Compensation is based on a fixed percentage of the fees you generate. Jesse would be your primary supervisor.

Support & Resources

All Associates are W-2 employees of Rose Therapy Practice, which offers:

  • Access to a group of 20-25 other Associates
  • Three other supervisors for occasional specialized consultations
  • An Administrative Assistant/Billing Specialist
  • A comprehensive best-practices marketing guide for private practice therapists
  • 1:1 support and coaching in developing your clinical niche and public presentation

Supervision Structure

Subject to change, depending on the number of Associates who are active:

  • Biweekly triad meeting with your supervisor and one other associate, with group supervision on alternating weeks
  • If you need more than one unit of supervision per week, that may be provided either through group supervision or an additional triad

Referrals & Insurance

We are paneled with several insurance companies, but referrals from these sources are not guaranteed and should not be treated as a substitute for private-pay clients. Building to a minimum private-pay caseload is required. This practice is currently paneled with:

  • Aetna
  • Aetna EAP
  • Optum EAP
  • United Healthcare/Optum
  • Kaiser/Carealon
  • Kaiser Northern California Health Plan
  • Partnership Medi-Cal Plan
  • Care Connect EAP
  • California (FFS) Medi-Cal

You will be automatically credentialed with these companies through the practice and can accept referrals through them, as well as build your own private-pay client base. While the practice works hard at developing referral relationships and sending referrals to Associates, Associates are ultimately responsible for building their own caseloads. We provide a marketing guide and tailored coaching to help with this process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide competent, professional, ethical, and in-scope clinical care to clients, including documentation and treatment planning that meets the standard of care
  • Attend all supervision meetings or arrange substitute supervision as needed
  • Build a caseload of 8-10 clients within 6 months of joining the practice, and 15-20 within a year
  • Track referrals, client insurance eligibility, copays, and other payments

Desired Experience

  • Trauma-informed and trained, or willing to train in modalities that incorporate depth psychology or experiential work such as IFS, EMDR, SE, or mindfulness-based approaches
