Associate Chief Medical Officer, Saint John's

About the Role

Saint John's Hospital is seeking an Associate Chief Medical Officer to direct and oversee the medical staff personnel practicing within UF Health St Johns and Durbin locations. This role facilitates medical staff interactions between the hospital and its medical staff, working with the Chief Medical Officer in the development of medical staff policies and procedures. The Associate Chief Medical Officer will serve as a key representative for UF Health St Johns and Durbin, coordinating with the Chief Medical Officer on physician recruitment, credentialing, discipline, and continuing medical education.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, oversee, and integrate a comprehensive medical safety program to improve the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, and make recommendations for performance improvement activities related to medical safety.
• Oversee reporting of events as required by regulatory agencies in collaboration with Corporate Compliance, Risk Management, and Legal Affairs.

Qualifications

• Education: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school. Preference for a Master’s degree in hospital, healthcare, or business administration.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-residency/fellowship clinical practice, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity in an academic medical center. Preference for ten or more years of progressively related work experience as a senior clinical leader in an academic healthcare system or with specific prior experience in a leadership role overseeing quality and safety initiatives in a complex academic healthcare organization or hospital system.
• Licensure: Board certified or Board eligible physician, licensed (MD/DO with unrestricted medical license) to practice medicine in the State of Florida. Must be a member of the hospital medical staff.
