About the role
The Rescue Mission is seeking an Associate Chaplain to support the spiritual and emotional well-being of the individuals and families they serve. This role involves building relationships, offering spiritual care, leading group activities, and supporting clients during significant life events.
Responsibilities
- Build meaningful, respectful relationships with clients and provide ongoing encouragement and support.
- Offer spiritual care through active listening, counseling, and crisis intervention.
- Lead chapel services, Bible studies, and fellowship opportunities.
- Plan and facilitate engaging spiritual life activities and group programming.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance client support services.
- Maintain consistent client engagement, including documentation and follow-ups.
- Develop and implement monthly activity calendars that promote well-being and connection.
- Encourage participation, social interaction, and community involvement.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a supportive, team-based environment.
- Promote a safe, respectful environment by following organizational policies.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Requirements
- Must be available to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License (in compliance with policy).
- Ability to engage others in a warm, compassionate, and professional manner.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and strong ethical standards.
- Adherence to all organizational health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bible college or seminary education preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Experience in inner-city ministry, human services, or homeless services highly valued.
