Job Duties
- Provides presence, comfort and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors during emergent calls and as needed.
- Provides pastoral care to staff during emergent calls and as needed.
- Maintins collegial ministry relationships.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Education
- Graduate theological degree from CHEA-accredited school (at least 48 semester credit hours)
- One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education
Work Experience
- Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
- Ordination or commission to function in ministry/pastoral care and endorsed or in good standing with faith group
Certifications
- Board certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) within two years of being hired into the position
- Associate Chaplain certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of different philosophical systems and religions and ability to be conversant in ethical dialogue.
- Working knowledge of psychological and sociological disciplines.
- Ability to provide spiritual care and support to a diverse population.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
