Associate Buyer
Job Purpose
Samina Oil and Gas Division in Houston, Texas is seeking an entry-level buyer. The role involves coordinating purchasing activities to meet forecast commitments and processing purchase requests in a timely manner. The responsibilities include placing orders based on MRP requirements, verifying prices and delivery dates, expediting as necessary to meet production requirements, and managing procurement to reduce costs below targets.
Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities
- Understand and manage the MRP/DRP process
- Receive and evaluate supplier responses and take appropriate action
- Ensure suppliers deliver purchased items in a timely manner
- Communicate issues and suggest resolutions to program management
- Manage procurement of materials to reduce costs below target
- Resolve receiving discrepancies, Material Review Board (MRB), Return to Vendor (RTV) and Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
- Manage material on order with suppliers to avoid exceeding inventory goals
- Obtain certification for on-line training courses
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, and other terms and conditions
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 0-2 years experience in purchasing
- Experience with MRP/DRP planning process a plus but not required
- Good, working knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly Excel
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Oracle preferred but not required
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel
