General Summary
Associate Brokerage Accounts is responsible for analyzing, designing, and managing transportation solutions that support customer supply chain objectives. This role serves as a strategic liaison between shippers and carriers, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistics execution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze shipper transportation needs and develop customized logistics strategies
- Evaluate carrier networks and recommend optimal sourcing solutions based on cost, service, and risk factors
- Provide consultative guidance to customers on supply chain efficiencies and market conditions
- Exercise independent judgment in carrier selection, pricing strategy, and service design
- Audit service failures and determine appropriate corrective actions, including carrier replacement or escalation strategies
- Evaluate tradeoffs between cost, speed, and service reliability when structuring transportation solutions
- Interpret and apply FMCSA regulations and internal risk policies to carrier selection and load execution
- Determine carrier eligibility based on safety ratings, insurance coverage, and service performance
- Mitigate operational and financial risk through informed decision-making
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support pricing and routing decisions
- Monitor transportation performance metrics and recommend improvements
- Influence margin outcomes through analytical decision-making
- Exercise independent decision-making to achieve desired margins
- Partner with operations, finance, and legal teams to structure service agreements and resolve complex issues
- Provide input into process improvements and operational standards
- Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field; 2 years of equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) industry preferred
- Active listening, persuasion and clear communication skills are essential
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with industry-standard CRM or financial reporting software
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, the ability to work in high-pressure environments, and excellent negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and experience utilizing load boards
- Ability to apply critical thinking to resolve complex financial discrepancies independently
- Strong organization skills
- High motivation and ability to handle rejection to consistently meet goals
- Travel: As needed
