Associate Bereavement Counselor

About the role
The Associate Bereavement Counselor/Intern works under supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and provides individual and group counseling services to patients/families to address their emotional needs related to the impact of a terminal illness, loss, and grief.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, group, and school-based Grief Counseling to bereaved Hospice families and members of the community.
- Receive weekly individual and group supervision meeting requirements of the BBS.
- Participate in a wide range of applicable educational in-services and learning opportunities.
- Complete extensive training in clinical documentation in an electronic medical record.
- Develop theoretical orientation in a supportive environment.
- Gain professional counseling experience in a fast-paced medical agency.
- Travel to satellite sites as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited master’s degree Program in Counseling Psychology or Social Work.
- Appropriate registration with the BBS required.
- 1+ years of experience conducting on-going counseling preferred (virtually or in-person).
- Knowledgeable about Loss and Grief Counseling techniques.
- Commit to 24 hrs./week, including one evening per week (on an intermittent basis), for a minimum of 18 months.
- Availability which includes Wednesdays and either Mon. or Fri.’s, and the 1st Wednesday of each month.
- Proficient in basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with documentation in an electronic medical record preferred.
