Associate Attorney (Tax)

About the role

Kirton McConkie, a large Salt Lake City law firm, seeks an exempt organizations tax associate with 2-5 years of relevant law firm experience to join its Tax practice group. This position will focus primarily on federal tax matters for nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations.

Responsibilities

• Advise nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations on federal tax matters, including tax exempt status, unrelated business income, public charity and private foundation rules, governance, and compliance.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of relevant law firm experience.
• Member of the Utah Bar or willingness to become a member; if not currently a Utah Bar member, must be a member of another U.S. state bar.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethics.
• Highly motivated and hard-working.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• LL.M. in taxation helpful but not required.
• Experience with corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, international tax, or state nonprofit laws and regulations is valuable.
