About the role

Our prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney specializing in Public Agency Litigation. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team of legal professionals, providing exceptional service to our public agency clients. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity for career growth and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of public agency litigation matters, including but not limited to, municipal law, civil litigation, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), construction defect, and construction cases.
  • Represent public agencies, cities, counties, and special districts in various litigation matters.
  • Interpret, analyze, and provide guidance on local government laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, briefs, motions, pleadings, and other court filings.
  • Provide sound legal advice to public agency clients on a wide range of legal issues.
  • Participate in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the efficient and effective handling of cases.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and in good standing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in public agency litigation, with a strong background in municipal law, civil litigation, CEQA, construction defect, and construction cases.
  • Demonstrated experience in representing local government entities.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and projects, with a keen attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff at all levels.
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
