Associate Attorney - Litigation Division
About the role
The Associate Attorney – Litigation Division position within the City of Atlanta Law Department handles all stages of litigation including discovery, depositions, and alternative dispute resolution.
Responsibilities
- Handle all stages of litigation including discovery, depositions, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Manage cases from initial investigation through trial and post-trial proceedings.
- Work closely with senior attorneys and administrative staff to develop and implement litigation strategies.
- Represent the City in state and federal court, including trial experience.
- Collaborate with various City Departments and Atlanta City Council on legal matters.
- Provide legal advice and support to City departments and officials.
Requirements
- At least one (1) year of litigation experience or other equivalent legal experience in general civil litigation in state and federal courts.
- Prior experience representing a municipal or other local government is not required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, analytical skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and interpersonal skills necessary to handle complex legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree required.
- Must be a member of good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
- Must have at least one (1) year of post-graduate experience.
Skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Experience with aviation law is a plus.
Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $73,268 - $115,000, with the option to work remotely one day per week under the City’s hybrid work schedule policy.

The salary range for this position is $73,268 - $115,000.
Schedule
This position follows the City’s hybrid work schedule policy as assigned by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week, based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five (5) days in-person work.
