Associate Attorney - Healthcare Litigation - 3-7 Years

About the role

A well-established law firm is seeking a Healthcare Associate Attorney (3-7 years of experience) to join its Healthcare Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to advise hospitals, health systems, medical staffs, and peer review bodies on complex healthcare matters involving patient safety, medical staff governance, credentialing, privileging, regulatory compliance, administrative proceedings, and related litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys tackling sophisticated legal issues, working closely with healthcare clients, and helping organizations navigate matters where fairness, due process, patient care, and regulatory compliance are critical.

Responsibilities

• Advise healthcare clients on medical staff governance, healthcare regulatory compliance, and operational matters
• Represent hospital medical staffs, medical executive committees, and peer review bodies in a variety of proceedings
• Handle issues related to credentialing, privileging, peer review, physician discipline, and fair hearing processes
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, briefs, bylaws, policies, and other legal documents
• Analyze complex statutes, regulations, bylaws, accreditation standards, policies, and procedural requirements
• Support litigation, administrative law matters, professional licensing issues, compliance counseling, and risk management initiatives

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active membership in the California State Bar
• 3-7 years of legal experience
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage complex factual and legal issues

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare regulatory work, litigation, administrative law, employment law, professional licensing, compliance counseling, or related practice areas is preferred
• Experience advising hospitals, health systems, medical staffs, physician groups, or healthcare providers on credentialing, peer review, medical staff affairs, hospital governance, or patient safety matters is a plus
• Prior healthcare law experience is preferred but not required

Pay

Base Salary: $200,000 - $260,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Eligible for annual performance-based bonus opportunities. Associates who meet the annual billable requirement may earn a bonus equal to 15% of base salary.

Schedule

1,850 annual billable hours (includes up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work).
