Job Description
Manage family law cases from initial consultation through resolution and trial.
- Meet with clients to evaluate legal issues, develop case strategies, and provide ongoing counsel.
- Draft and review pleadings, petitions, motions, declarations, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
- Analyze financial records, discovery materials, and case-related documentation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies.
- Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare cases for trial and serve as lead or supporting counsel during trial proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to achieve favorable client outcomes.
Experience You Will Need
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing with the Washington State Bar, or ability to obtain admission promptly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and case management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced litigation environment.
- 3-7 years of family law litigation experience preferred.
- Experience handling hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Strong negotiation and client counseling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a caseload.
