Associate Attorney

About The Position

Our client, a reputable civil defense litigation firm based in Buffalo, New York, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation defense, excellent legal research and writing skills, and the ability to handle cases independently while working collaboratively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of civil defense litigation matters from inception to resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct depositions, court appearances, mediations, and trials.
• Perform legal research and provide strategic legal analysis.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure high-quality case management.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in New York State.
• 3-5 years of experience in civil defense litigation.
• Strong understanding of New York State and Federal civil procedure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prioritize and manage a litigation caseload independently.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in areas such as general liability, professional liability, construction litigation, or insurance defense.
• Familiarity with case management software and e-discovery platforms.
