Associate Attorney

About the role

An established Mississippi full-service law firm with over 100 years in practice is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience in civil defense litigation to join its Jackson, MS office. Experience with corporate/transactional matters is a plus. • Salary range: $120,000-$150,000+, contingent on experience

Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of civil defense litigation experience
• Familiarity with civil defense matters including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and depositions
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
• Mississippi Bar membership in good standing, or eligibility for admission
• Corporate/transactional experience is a plus but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple matters and work collaboratively within a team environment

Responsibilities

• Manage a civil defense litigation caseload with increasing independence
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and litigation-related documents
• Represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
• Advis[e] and support clients on risk management and litigation strategy
• Collaborate with partners and practice groups to support institutional clients and ongoing matters
• Assist with corporate/transactional matters as needed and as experience allows
